Limited Traffic Zone of the historical center of Rome

The Limited Traffic Zone of the historical center of Rome is closed to cars during the following hours.

Weekdays - Monday to Thursday: from 6.30 to 18.00
Friday: from 6.30 to 18.00 and from 23.00 to 3.00 (ZTL night)
Saturday: from 14.00 to 18.00 and from 23.00 to 3.00 (ZTL night)




Please note: From October 26, 2007 new night time

Private cars are allowed to enter the ZTL:
Sunday and public holidays,
weekdays: 18.00 to 06.30 the next day (except Friday and Saturday in the streets where there is night ZTL).


Motorcycles and mopeds have free access to the restricted traffic area every day,


Residents and other groups entitled to permit the ZTL and the disabled have special sign of movement, using the cars can freely allowed and exposing the marking out the windshield or rear window of the car. The marks for disabled entitle the holders to travel throughout the LTZ and parking in spaces reserved and all other spaces are allowed. The marks for the LTZ entitle the transit (crossing only ZTL) or movement (seen in the ZTL road and parking spaces permitted) according to the different types of permit.
The permits issued to residents, resident, craftsmen, repair shops and night workers in the field G (Trastevere) are not valid for other areas of ZTL



ZTL Night

Since October 7, 2005 Stop the car every Friday and Saturday from 23 to 3 am



ZTL - electronic gates

It makes the automatic control of access to the historic 22 through electronic gates (the other gates are manned by local police), with technology similar to Telepass.
