The Rules of the WorldCup
The formula confirms that in force since, during the French edition of 1998, the final phase of World Cup has been increased to 32 teams and therefore envisage the formation of eight Italian rounds (called "groups" ) with lots of one-way, each with four teams and drawn on the basis of the FIFA world rankings in October 2009 and geographic criteria.
The top two national teams from each group entering the direct elimination phase consisting of a board of four rounds (second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals) couplings entirely predetermined and unique games based on meetings and any extra time and penalties in case of continuation of parity between the two contenders.
Classification criteria groups [edit]
To determine the ranking of teams in each group will be considered in the order the following criteria [13]:
greater number of points;
goal difference;
greater number of goals scored;
greater number of points in the direct matches (ranking divorced);
goal difference in head to head (ranking divorced);
greater number of goals scored in head to head (ranking divorced);
draw conducted by FIFA committee.
