Ventotene: tourism, sea and holidays
The island has two ports, one of Roman origin, then subsequently upgraded during the Bourbon period, and another with a large modern marina. While the Porto Romano is dedicated primarily to small fishing boats and private boats to medium-sized, the new port can accommodate vessels too large and is the port for ferries, hydrofoils and other vessels for commercial and passenger transport by land .
Among the peculiarities of the island, recently built dell'elisuperficie allowing rescue helicopters (118, civil defense, police) to intervene to avoid the inconvenience of island and creating territorial continuity for the safety and protection of health. Tourism is also favored by the commercial potential of this infrastructure that has expanded its range in the direction of users who most demanding and allows seasonal adjustment. Ventotene is a town of 692 inhabitants of the province of Latina, extended homonymous island and the nearby smaller island of Santo Stefano, both belonging to the archipelago of the Pontine islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea. With an area of 1.54 km 2 is the smallest common size of central Italy. Ventotene is also known for Ventotene Manifesto (written Altero Spinelli and Ernesto Rossi, opponents of the fascist regime contained therein) which, in 1941, in full World War called the Union of European countries and that will be the ideal reference which will look in many subsequent years for the process of continental integration. Santa Candida, patron saint of the island Ventotene, is celebrated on 20 September with a week of events between the sacred and the profane. The "Committee of Santa Candida, is responsible for fundraising and organization of events culminating after consuming traditional street performances, games and balloons for the race card, in which various" schools "are compared on size, shape, decoration and technique on the launch of balloons, with a show of fireworks at sea. The band accompanies the impressive procession, which involves the whole population, the boat Santa Candida which tells the body was found on the banks of the Santa Pozzillo
